What is Touch-typing?
Before going to my main topic, I want to say something about touch-typing. I think my speech will be more beneficial for your career.
Touch-typing is such kind of typing where people can type without looking at the keyboard. They just feel keys with fingers and type fast. It is the most faster than traditional typing. Because during touch-typing no need to think where are the keys.
A touch typist can type more than 90 words per minute. On the other hand, a typist who types by looking at the keyboard can type not more than 40 words per minute. This is true.
If you want to check your typing speed then you can follow mind below direction.
1. Go to Typing Test
2. Select your time from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on Start Typing Test Orange button.
4. Now you will get a white box area. Start typing which you can see the screen.
5. After one minute it will automatically stop and it will show your typing speed in WPM (Words Per Minute).
Importance of Touch-typing
The importance of touch typing cannot be explained shortly. It is mandatory for your better career.
To Save Time
A general computer user can type 20 – 30 words per minute. Whereas, a touch typist is able to type 40 to 90 WPM (Words per Minute). Can you imagine how much time he can save in his daily life?
So, saving time is the main benefit of touch typing. It has been proven that a skilled touch typist can save about 30 to 40 % time by learning this beneficial skill.
A touch typist never afraid about how long he needs to type. Because he knows that, it is easy to type. One of the most important things is that a touch typist can type more accurately. Their spelling mistake, the grammatical mistake is hundred times less than a general typist. When a person learns touch typing, it increases his self-confidence. He gets an invisible signal during typing to avoid errors.
Reduce Mental and Physical Fatigue
Longtime typing makes you bore. Because it is both psychologically and physically exhausting.
During typing, we need to make concentrate on two things at a time. One is, need to find the right key to stock and another is the monitor to check the input.
But, touch-typing can reduce mental and physical fatigue. Because you no need to find button. Automatically your finger will press the desired key. Just you need to focus on the monitor for checking text and spelling. So, it is beneficial for health.

Introducing with Finger
Since this is a typing practice article so it is my responsibility to introduce with your finger. Every finger is important for typing. But thumb, index and baby finger is mostly used. Both thumb finger is used for the space bar, the index finger is for controlling keyboard and the baby finger is used to press the shift key. Do not afraid, I am going to talk about this in details. Please see the below picture carefully.
Left Thumb Finger = Spacebar when the right hand is used for typing.
Right Thumb Finger = Spacebar when the left hand is used for typing.
Left Index Finger is to press = F, G, R, T, V and B
Right Index Finger = J, H, U, Y, N, M
Left Middle Finger = D, E, C
Right Middle Finger = K, , <, I Left Ring Finger = S, W, X Right Ring Finger = L, >, . O
Left Baby Finger = A, Z, Q, Shift
Right Baby Finger =: ; P, ?, / Shift
Introducing with keyboard
The keyboard is a device for writing text and communicating with the computer. The keyboards consist of many keys which have alphabet, numbers and special keys to interact with the system. The keyboard is essential, just like the mouse in the operation of a computer. A computer does not start if it did not detect a keyboard with the ignition. Do not be scared by the number of keys present on a keyboard, we will see the essentials and everything will become clear later!
Most Essential keys of a Keyboard for practice typing
Alphabet: There are 26 alphabets on a keyboard.
Number: A keyboard has 0 to 9 numbers.
Shift: It is very important keys for typing. It helps to write a small letter or capital letter during typing. For example- if you generally type any alphabet you can see “a” but just press “Shift+a” then you will see capital “A”.
Spacebar: This long button is used to make a space between two words.
Caps Lock: This button is to use for writing and capital and small letter. If you normally write any alphabet it will be “abcd” but if you stock on Caps Lock button then your alphabet will be “ABDC”.
Tab: This button is used to make long space than spacebar.
Enter: Enter button is an acceptance button but during typing, this button will help you to go to next line.
Backspace: It helps to delete any text. If you keep your cursor beside the text. It can help you to delete left side words.
Delete: As like backspace bar but it can delete right side word.
Arrow key: Most of the keyboard has four arrow keys to move left, right, up and down.
How to Practice touch typing to improve typing speed.
This is the most important part of this article. I strongly believe, if you read this content carefully, you will be able to improve typing speed. Trust me, I will give you short tips.
Anyway, at first look at your keyboard carefully.
What do you see?
Obviously, a set of keys. Try to see “J” and “F” button again from closer.
Now, what you are seeing?
These two buttons are different than other keys. You are feeling a little bump on the button.
Is not it? Yes!
So, what is the function of these keys? Why are these keys different than others?
Let me explain.
Touch typing depends on these keys. But how? This is very simple. This key is an indicator or your pointer. During typing, if you are ever lost your keys, no need to find your all keys. Just try to find “F” and “J” pointer. If you find those button you can type correctly again.
During typing never move your finger from F and J button. If you ever feel you need to move your finger, then move the finger to press the button and bring your finger in the previous place. This situation you may face to stock R, T, Y, U, G, H, V, B, N, M, any number, and Punctuation.
4 days touch typing lesson which is enough for you
At first, place your five-left finger on the keyboard. Baby finger onto the ‘A’ key, ring finger onto the ‘S’ key, middle onto the ‘D’ key, index finger onto the ‘F’ key and thumb finger onto the ‘Space Bar”.
Now place your right finger. Baby finger onto the ‘ ; ‘ key, ring finger onto the ‘L’ key, middle finger onto the ‘K’ key, index finger onto the ‘J’ key.
Now start your practice. Never try to see your keyboard, only see your computer screen attentively and try to keep your index finger onto the F and J keys.
Now press ‘A’ key with your left baby finger and loudly say ‘A‘.
Now press ‘Spacebar’ with right thumb finger and speak in the mouth “Space”.
Again press ‘S+Space’, ‘D+Space’ and ‘F+Space’ keys and loudly say in your mouth.
That means every time when you press a button, press the “Space Bar” once. As well as you should be pronounced in your mouth.
Now move your left index finger to press ‘G’ and bring your figure in the previous position.
The exercise of the right hand is same as like left hand. Use right baby finger to press ‘ ; ‘, ‘L’ with ring finger, ‘K’ with the middle finger, ‘J’ and ‘H’ with index figure. Also, need to press “Space Bar” with your left thumb finger and every time need to speak loudly.
You can change your direction during practice. At first practice A to ; and then practice ; to A.
In this way, practice at least 2 hours. Some exercise is given below with capital letter. Use shift key with both baby finger to write a capital letter.
Exercise: Has, Had, Dad, As
This is the second day of the lesson. We are going to practice from Q to P. We will press the top button and bring the finger back to the previous position.
Now place your finger as like the first lesson. Start your practice. Press ‘Q‘ with a left baby finger, ‘W‘ with ring finger, ‘E‘ with the middle finger, ‘R‘ with the index finger and ‘T‘ with the index finger.
Again, practice from T to Q.
Now practice with a right finger as like left fingers. First type from Y to P and then P to Y.
Exercise: Toyota, Taka, Right, Egg, Wow, Que, Eagle, Yahoo, Utah, Idle, Idea, Apple, Oppose, Power, Age, Sport, Do, Fool, Glue, Huge, Jaw, Keats, Laari, Load, Qaida, Post, Ural, Yoga, Yodel.
This is the third lesson. Today We will practice form Z to /. First left hand and then a right hand. Use left baby finger to press ‘Z‘, X with the ring, C with the middle, V and B with the index finger.
Use right baby finger to press ‘ / ‘ , ‘ . ‘ With the ring, ‘,‘ with the middle, ‘M and N‘ with the right index finger.

Lesson four is only for practice season. Take any book and place it in front of you. Start typing without looking your keyboard.
Some factors that can help you to improve typing speed
By these four lessons, you can learn touch typing. I think your typing speed is now about 30 to 40 words per minute. But if you want to get more speed then you must have to practice every day. This is the secret tips to improve your speed up to 90 words.
Select the best keyboard
There are mainly two types of keyboard, Basic and Extended keyboard. The basic keyboard consist of 104 keys and the extended keyboard may have additional keys.
The example of the extended keyboard is Windows 8 keyboard which is designed by Microsoft.
On the other hand, there are different qualities of the keyboard. Some are easy to type and some are heard. Some are large and some are small. You must have to select the best keyboard that is very comfortable for you.
Initially, you need to select comfortable keyboard but at a certain period, you will be able to type any keyboards.
Keep concentration on the screen
During typing practice, you must keep your concentration on the screen, not on the keyboard. Otherwise, you cannot learn it properly. Primarily it is harder but after some days you will not feel anything.
Use proper fingers to strike
Use your proper fingers to press keys that I guided to you. Do not try to use other fingers. We know that it is very difficult initially. But your regular practice will solve your every confusion.
Use best comfortable chair and table
Make sure that, your keyboard is at the right height. Use comfortable chair and table that can help you to relax your neck and shoulders. Always keep your elbows close to your sides and place your feet flat on the floor. Ensure your back is supported. Without following these tips, you cannot learn touch typing within four days.
